PEI

Polyetherimid

PEI is a thermoplastic with unique combinations of properties.

PEI can withstand temperatures up to 200 ° C, high flash point and low smoke development.

The target stability of PEI is far above most other thermoplastics - even at high temperatures.

Trade names of raw materials and semi-finished products:

  • Ultem®
  • Sustapei®

Linatex supplies both semi-finished and finished products, as required. Documentation for quality and short delivery times makes Linatex a good partner.

What is PEI used for

Application temperature normally from approx. -50 ° C up to 170 ° C. In special conditions from approx. 210 ° C up to 300 ° C.
Density usually approx. 1.27-1.50 g/cmᶟ

Advantages:

  • High temperatures up to 200 ° C
  • Use down to -100 ° C without changing target stability
  • High flash point and low smoke development
  • Target stability far exceeds most other thermoplastics
  • Unusually resistant to chemicals and unaffected by petroleum products
  • Resistant to UV and gamma rays

Limitations:

Price.

Applications:

Subjects with very fine details with tight tolerances, it is also easy to machining to fine surfaces.

In the electrical and electronics industry, PEI is used for cable insulation, high temperature couplings, integrated circuits, parts for microwaves, electric motors, generators, and transformers as well as metallized reflectors on high energy lamps.
